Election Day 2:25 p.m.
Espresso Roma barista Ailsa Huerta Castro worries about the chaos that could ensue following the results of this presidential election, “After January 6th, the sky’s the limit.”
She’s not alone. Coffee pourers and drinkers alike say they will feel personally affected by the results.
“I think there will be riots,” Alejandro Bechtle said. “I think riots are likely, hate crimes are likely. I think there are honestly more likely to be riots if Kamala wins, not because people would be more upset, but because Trump has validated to his followers that it’s okay to commit political violence.”
A French citizen visiting Eugene, Oregon, shared similar fears of what is going to happen once results are announced.
“I have a tendency of being extremely scared of the violence in the U.S.,” said Louise Alaina Trano, who sat across from Bechtle, feeling uneasy about the future.
The three are afraid of the violence that could occur.
“I think that’s the number one thing that’s been making me kind of anxious is the chaos that will ensue regardless of what happens,” Huerta Castro said. “People are going to be upset.”
“I hope not,” said Huerta Castro on the possibility of post-election violence.
